TitleLetter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to John Yates, the secretary of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company
DescriptionWritten from 18 Duke Street, London. The letter apologises for Brunel's inability to attend a board meeting, but sends Yates his report on the progress on the ship as well as two recommendations for payment to the contractors but explains that Brunel has not authorised, due to his dissatisfaction with their work, the full amount that he might have for Watt & Co who were building the screw engine. The letter also states that Brunel has arranged to have a periodic photographic record made of the ship and the state of the work for the Directors' information
