The letter records Brunel's attendance at a meeting of the Court of Directors of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company where he explained the negative consequences of the Directors' previous resolution to employ someone to oversee the construction of the ship. The letter also records the consequent resolution that Brunel be empowered to employ assistants to help him supervise the work and that Brunel be requested to provide monthly reports to the Directors. |
