DescriptionWritten from The Priory, Battersea. The letter answers Brunel's request for Claxton's opinion about the masts and rigging of the Great Eastern Steam Ship. The letter describes sea conditions on the Southern and Atlantic oceans, the various wind and wave conditions to be met along the route that the ship would travel and how this affects different sized ships with different conformations of rigging.
