TitleLetter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to Thomas Ledger
DescriptionWritten from 18 Duke Street, London. The letter thanks Ledger for sending Brunel the information about gas consumption by different burners and requests Ledger's additional help with providing information for Brunel to use in his calculations and designs for lighting a large steam ship and preventing gas leakage and asks if Ledger would recommend the use of Camel (or Cannel) Coal Gas, whether it is possible to reduce leakage enough to avoid the build up of unpleasant gas smells and whether using smaller pipes and burners is likely to reduce the escape of gas.
