| Description | Written from 173 Aldersgate Street, London. The letter gives Brunel details of the consumption of gas by different burners which Brunel has requested in order to calculate rates of gas consumption by passengers and in the cabins of his ship for the Eastern Steam Navigation Company. The facing page (reverse of Folio 198a) is blank and un-numbered. The letter was initially dated as 10 May 1853 but a pencil annotation appears to correct this to 1854 while the letter's position in the volume as well as the date of Brunel's reply also seem to suggest this is a mis-dating. |
