Title | Letter from John Scott Russell to Isambard Kingdom Brunel |
Description | Written from Sydenham. The letter asks Brunel to consider the possibility of launching his next ship via hydraulic launch. The letter describes some previous hydraulic launches, suggests that one of the boats for the Eastern Steam Navigation Company's great ship should be a submarine boat and asks when the steam tender should be built. The letter also mentions that Russell has sent Brunel a copy of the New Law of tonnage, describes the differences in tonnage for the ship Oscar under the old and new laws and explains some of the deficiencies of the old law of tonnage. |
