The letter explains Brunel's difficulty in estimating the amount and cost of work to be done on the proposed great ships, especially with regards to the cabin fittings and interior decoration, since their form has not yet been decided. The letter includes Brunel's current estimates as to the costs of various parts of the construction process of the ship and the amount of capital needed.
