The letter acknowledges receipt of a letter from Yates dated 20 July 1853 which includes a copy of a resolution passed by the Directors of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company and explains that Brunel was aware of the conditions stated in the resolution and explained them to those he had been communicating with regarding the tenders for the construction of the ship.
