DescriptionWritten from 18 Duke Street, London. The letter reiterates, in writing, Brunel's previous conversation with Russell relating to the acceptance of his tenders for the construction of the hull and the paddle engines for the first of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company's ships. The letter also explains the various conditions that must be met before the Directors of the Company can begin to enter into contracts and explains some of the possible provisions or conditions that may be attached to the contract, including the contractor holding shares in the ship and the potential reduction in price should a second engine be ordered within three months of the successful trial of the first ship.
