Title | Letter from Isambard Kingdom Brunel to Edward Humphreys of Humphreys and Tennant |
Description | Written from 18 Duke Street, London. The letter offers Brunel's comments and opinions on the engine design and specification that Humphreys has proposed for the great ship that Brunel is designing for the Eastern Steam Navigation Company and explains which parts of the specification Brunel will not let be altered. Brunel comments favourable on Humphreys' proposal to ensure that the engines can be raised and lowered since it is an idea that he has spent a long time considering but comes to the conclusion that Humphreys has suggested a much larger engine than Brunel considers necessary for the ship. |
