Title | Letter from Joseph Miller of the firm of Miller and Ravenhill to Isambard Kingdom Brunel |
Description | Written from Naples. The letter follows Miller's previous letter to Brunel and mentions how much Miller is in favour of the idea of building very large ships which can carry their own coal supplies but emphasising the importance of not scuppering the plans by using new and untried engines in a ship of such importance. The letter also touches upon Miller's ill-health and his long career in building ship engines and suggests that Brunel might like to visit Miller and Ravenhill's workshops in Ratcliffe and see the various types of engines they are currently building for various clients. |
