Title | Letter from G.B. Airy to Isambard Kingdom Brunel |
Description | Written from the Royal Observatory, Greenwich. The letter acknowledges receipt of Brunel's letter about establishing an observatory on his new large steam ship, suggests that Brunel may have to use star observations and will have to purchase and test many of the instruments that he intends to use and promises to give it some thought and offers to meet Brunel if he should wish to visit. The letter also asks to see lithographic plans and sections of the ship and mentions that he is anxious about the distribution of power and the draught of water. |
