| Description | The Complete Pelican Shakespeare (AB) was designed by Hans Schmoller and the composition carried out by the Westerham Press, Kent, in Monophoto Ehrhardt. It was probably the first complete Shakespeare to have been filmset. Printed and bound by Kingsport Press, Tennessee. Special features of the edition include the treatment of speech-prefixes which are printed in full, line numbering, footnotes, the use of italics for stage directions only, the use of square brackets, the inclusion of the first nineteen pages of the Capell copy of the First Folio in the library of Trinity College, Cambridge, illustrations by C. Walter Hodges, and the use of Robert Granjon's Civilité type for the title-page, binding, jacket and slipcase, and initial letters. Work on the volume began in January 1968. It was published in American on 23 April 1969, and was published in England in autumn 1969. |
