Thompson congratulates Penguin on their edition of 'A Book of Greek Coins', but points out that the photograph of the Penny coin on the book cover bears the date 1952 and that no coin of that date exists. With black and white photographs of the four coins used on the book cover.
With notes made by Hans Schmoller on Penguin book cover errors, including the cover of 'A Book of Greek Coins' (K63) for which William Grimmond touched up the photograph of the Penny coin to alter the date from 1951 to 1952; the cover of G. Vermes's 'Dead Sea Scrolls in English' (A551) which had the Hebrew upside down on the cover; and Thornton Wilder's 'The Skin of our Teeth' (PL27) which had the Hebrew printed upside down. |
