TitleHans Schmoller's notes on his role at Penguin Books
DescriptionTypescript notes made by Hans Schmoller on his role 'as the responsible architect of Penguin Books', n.d. [1960s?].

Schmoller outlines his duties at Penguin, which included designing and checking specimen pages of reprints of books, designing chapter openings, self-advertisements and new typographic covers, and having typographic control of the proofs of all Penguin books. He designed the cover of The Centuries Poetry, A Dictionary of Geography, the Penguin Scores, and the new Shakespeare. He also ensured that the paper used had the grain running the right way and was of a slightly cream shade instead of the former blueish grey.
